Review: Timeless by Alexandra Monir

A while back I didn't have a blog. But I still read books, so I wanted to share with you what I thought of Timeless by Alexandra Monir.  It's not a huge review but it should still give you an idea of what the book's about.

Book: Timeless
Author: Alexandra Monir
Pages: 304
Publisher: Delacorte Book for Young Readers
Rating: 5/5
Summary: Music can draw us back into memories, moments, and places, and in Timeless, debut author and recording artist Alexandra Monir transports readers into the glamorous Gilded Age and Roaring Twenties with soulful lyrics and swooning jazz tones. Alexandra wrote two original songs for Timeless, the lyrics of which are trickled throughout the book, slowly revealing a decades-old family mystery. In Timeless, we are introduced to Michele Windsor, one of the modern bluebloods of the historic Windsor family. Struggling to find her place in a world of prestige and old-fashioned values, Michele sifts through family relics in search of answers. When she discovers her great-great-grandmother’s diary and begins poring through its pages, she finds herself whisked back in time to the Gilded Age. There, Michele meets the man whom she always wished existed, but hadn’t dared to believe in. Inextricably drawn to each other, the two fall in love. But as Michele drifts between modern life and the world of the past, she begins to piece together an alarming family mystery -- one that may doom her life and the life of the man she loves. Timeless is a captivating romance and mystery spanning three decades of high-society life and intrigue in New York City. --Jacqueline Segall ( Information above found on Amazon, except for book picture)

Thoughts:
Timeless is a beautifully written novel about a girl who goes back in time a hundred years. When I was reading Timeless I was so lost in the book it almost felt I was there. I know someone else has said this about another book but, is this really Alexandra Monirs debut novel? It was written so perfectly with descriptions in places you wanted and a poetic, fresh feel to the writing. I can't say enough good things about Ms. Monir's writing, can I?
The idea was great as well, very original, and interesting. Although I thought this book would of worked as a stand alone she added that cliffhanger in the end. Shocker! I also really enjoyed the characters. They seemed very real people who were trying to deal with grief and feeling . There were also nice little touches in this book that made you think, oh that's a nice little touch. For example Michele's mum being a small designer and a very understanding mum, made everything, the accident and Michele's sadness included so real.
I also learned a lot from this book as well. It was obvious Alexandra Monir did her research. Who new 1910 was a very fancy age. I also thought of it to be an in between age, where nothing was really happening. World War 1 didn't start until a bit later, and the 20s didn't come until well the 20s. Although most of the time traveling took place in 1910 there were a few other places in time Michele went back too. Truly an amazing book. I recommend heading over to your local bookstore/library and seeing if they have it.
